[keyword analysis research] - 10 Easy Tips How To Choose Your Keywords To Drive High Volumes Of Targeted Traffics To Your Web Site
- Sit down with a pen and paper… and brainstorm your focus keywords! I know this might not seem like a very high tech idea, but you know your business best! Imagine your perfect client and what keywords they might type into the search engines.
- Find more focus keywords by asking your family, your friends, and your associates what terms they would use to search for your product type.
- Be specific and general. For example, if you were selling web hosting, you might use the following keywords: web hosting, multiple domain hosting, hosting package, virtual private server, cpanel hosting, etc….
- Include misspelled keywords! This is a trick that many site owners neglect -- and that's too bad! Using misspelled keywords is an excellent idea to target traffics that you - and your competitors. Research common misspellings of your top focus keywords and include them in your keywords list.
- Include your region & nation if applicable. For example, if you are selling car in New York in US, you would include “New York” and "US" in your list of keywords.
- Include the long and short form of your focus keywords. Using the virtual private server example, you would include “vps” and “vpss” along with “virtual private servers”.
- Use as many variations of your keywords as you can think of. For example, the keyword "web hosting" could be "web hosts", "web host", "hosting web"…
- Remember that some search engines are case sensitive when it comes to keywords and phrases, so “Host” and “host” would be considered two separate keywords.
- Be sure to include your company name… but do NOT use trademark names other than your own! If you get caught using trademark names like Wal-Mart, Yahoo!, Amazon, etc… to draw traffic to your site, you could not only find yourself banned from the search engines, you could also find yourself slapped with a lawsuit!
- Check what keywords your competitors have featured on their web sites, in their titles, and in their META tags. You can easily do this by going to your competitor's web site, clicking on the “View” menu of your browser, and choosing “Source.”
